Campus Building
Fundació Sanitària Mollet
Mollet del Vallès, Spain / Education / 5,100 m²
The Fundació Sanitària Mollet is developing an ambitious educational and cultural project in a new building that includes spaces for administration, university education, coworking areas, a community library, and a multifunctional auditorium.
This transformation has freed up areas currently used by the Mollet University Hospital, which will be converted into healthcare spaces. The new building seeks to respond to new forms of teaching and working by providing open-plan, dynamic spaces that are user-friendly.
Formally, the building consists of two volumes. On the one hand, the volume containing the auditorium adapts to the topography of the site and seeks to reduce the scale of the building towards Santa Perpetua Street. On the other hand, the volume where the classrooms, library, and coworking areas are located is a compact prism that seeks to exploit its maximum capacity. It is organized around a central triple-height space, connecting the lower levels through a large staircase, while consistently prioritizing orientation and views of the immediate surroundings.
Along with the community library, the auditorium plays a key role on the campus. According to Dr. Jaume Duran, Director General of the Fundació Sanitària Mollet: “Spaces for art, music, and culture will allow us to promote well-being and health beyond healthcare services for all citizens.”
